Review Lithium City. A diamond that no one noticed

Why are we loved Hotline Miami, Katana Zero, Ruiner? First of all, for a tooth -free gameplay that does not forgive errors. After that, an ochering visual style follows, and then the “swinging” soundtrack. There is also a plot in them, but we will be honest, it deserves attention only in Katana Zero. All three games have earned a special place in my heart for such features. Those 4-6 hours that are enough to go through each of these indie are a pure, concentrated pleasure. Not every AAA-project is able to give the same thing, because those dozens and hundreds of hours for which large-budget games pass are oversaturated with grinds rolling into routine.

So what is I why? In June of this year, an isometric action came out Lithium City, which scored 96 reviews in Steam. 96 reviews, Karl, the game, which … however, about everything in order.

It is worth saying that it is The most Unusual Of all ordinary games that I happened to touch. The basis of each game is gameplay, and it is here in the spotlight, so let’s start with it. Conceptually, this game is not something unique. This just isometric jumper comparable to Hotline Miami. Here you have one section of the location, here are the enemies, here are the guns that you can take away from the enemies, lay everyone and go to the next.

The main difference from the hotlin is a health system. Enemies do not die from one poke (like a protagonist), although they fail from two or three light weapons (like a protagonist). It is also worth noting that the heroine’s health is very quickly regenerated, but do not perceive it as a relief-the health indicator simply reflects the permissible number of errors in each of the micro-witches on the site. Helps to deal with enemies here Dash and weapons, which I counted 15 types, and not only the firearm. Shooting here is wildly pleasant, Impact is felt (for reference – shooting at Hotline Miami I hate, and in ruiner it is not perfect). Moreover, thanks to narrow locations, bullets always fly exactly where you want, even if you play on the gamepad.

Throughout all six available https://bettingsitesnogamstop.co.uk/review/winit-casino/ levels (in the development there are 7 more) enemies differ both externally and in behavior. The game smoothly leads us through homeless people with iron pipes, through pankovs with shotgun, through the revived glass statues with swords and disks a la throne and through a special forces detachment with pulsed rifles. And if at the beginning of the game you feel relatively comfortable, then at the end of the opponents begins to work in full force – the special forces constantly patrol the location, go to the sources of sounds, retreat over the corners and kill the protagonist in a quarter of a second after the moment when she came into sight. The gameplay turns into a dance of death, you think over the route on the run, catch enemies one at a time, preventing you from reacting, you go behind your back, confuse them, one small oversight – and restart. It is at such moments that Lithium City is revealed by 100%.

Lithium City is not only dynamic shootouts forcing to think tactically. Lithium City is not afraid flirt with gameplay and it certainly will not seem monotonous. In four hours of the game, you will have time to go through a kind of Turbo Tunnel from laser fences and conowers, run away from flying Makhina with a minigan and even play football with glass statues. What am I talking about, every segment of any of the levels requires its own approach. You were closed in a cramped room with two barns, now you are already getting into the hall with a bunch of cannons on the table, and dozens of enemies of different types begin to burst there, so you see a whole crowd of pancks around the corner, and there are grenades on the table, one room is easiest to walk, systematically moving from one enemy to another, the other rushing like stung and fascinating everything that moves everything that moves. The gameplay here does not give a hint of routine, because it changes constantly. What is there with a variety of competitors? Well, in Katan Ziro, the level with motorcycles is cool and there are cool chips in the massacre, yes. And about the hoteline and ruiner, in which only the layout of the levels changes, you can not even remember.

We go to the graphics. An interesting fact – the game is completely two -dimensional. No, you did not misheard. Yes, the 3D illusion is like in the first Duma. No, sprites are not used here, instead the developer wrote a technology, thanks to which 2D points are moved according to the laws of isometric 3D. No, the game looks just beautiful, there are no artifacts of the image, and in general I myself did not understand that it is 2D until I read the developer’s blog (more – My 10 Year Game Development Journey – Nico Tuason). Moreover, primitive physics and even Ragdoll have been implemented here!

The nature of the 2D Games does not prevent her from looking just ochering. The futuristic city with the notes of Cyberpanus so I want to put on the desktop. The locations are incredibly stylish and filled with neon, the bodies and fragments do not disappear, the effects are perfectly made – why rant, you yourself see everything.

A couple of words about soundtrack are a pretty good synthesive and it fits perfectly into the game. The music is completely author and it can be separately purchased in Steam. Monsieur Kungurov himself used it in two vidos (so I found the game, by the way).

The plot is not there, as is the need for this, because the game is abstract, we move on.

It seems to have painted everything about the game and it’s time to draw a conclusion. Lithium City is the most beautiful indie game that gives a unique expire every second of seven hours I played and deserved the “Favorites” mark in my library. And an assessment of her according to the Stopgamy system. Passage.

“I mean a pass, you have a few pages here about what kind of game is ochering”. So, the game is ochering with one weighty but. This is her Duration. Only six levels, the first and fourth of which is difficult to call even the levels, from the second to the third game spares the player, letting him learn to play, the fifth is knocked out of the overall picture by the fact that it is broken into several mini-games and only a real dental action begins on the sixth. After this follows the final bossfite, which is very complicated, but, unfortunately, this is the most ordinary bossFite without a hint of something unique and interesting. I spent 6 hours on the passage of Lithium City, of which, probably, half went to this boss itself, and the game ends. Yes, the developer promised that he would later add the remaining levels and, possibly, an endless regime, and you can understand why he released a not -complete game. But we evaluate the product that we have now, and this assessment is not raisins. But I do not regret that I bought it (Camon, only 195 r), because even though the game did not have time to show all its potential, it was able to impress me and inspire me. Nico Tuason created Lithium City for five years without a kikstarter and publishers and he has earned much more than 96 fucking reviews in Steam. I believe that the purchase of Lithium City is worth seeing which game is cool, beautiful and bold, and also to support the development of that very Truley Indie.

Thank you for reading, I went to wait for the Revolution and see you on the roof of the skyscraper of the city of Lithuania.
